We are all but sojourners on this lifetime passing by in time. But we often yearn for the need to leave a legacy or memory when we are mere instruments to carry out our true purpose in life. Nothing here is eternal after all.
That is perhaps one of life's many paradox. But while we are here in this short time frame, we might as well live it out to the fullest. Lest one assumes that leaving a mark is making a difference, abandon the saviour mentality at the doorstep; living for others till you're completely spent - that is the ultimate achievement, for someone else.
I'm a Roman Catholic and there is nothing radical in living out my beliefs in a secular setting.
